Job summary

Randstad Education are recruiting a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across West Sussex and Surrey, delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group literacy, numeracy, and social-skills sessions to raise confidence and independence. You’ll work with class teachers and SENCOs, adapt materials under guidance, and help maintain a safe, warm classroom.

Flexible full-time or part-time roles, competitive daily rates (£90.00–£105.00), weekly pay, and a dedicated regional consultant to support

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting primary school-aged children in educational settings.
• Solid understanding of special educational needs (Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language difficulties).
• Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting young learners.
• Strong verbal communication and the ability to build rapport with children and school staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored, individual assistance to pupils with special educational needs to keep them engaged with daily lessons.
• Lead literacy, numeracy, and social-skills sessions for pupils needing extra support.
• Create a safe, warm, and structured classroom where every child feels valued.
• Modify learning materials under teacher guidance to match individual learning styles.
• Utilize positive behavior techniques and de-escalation strategies to maintain a productive learning space.
• Work alongside Class Teachers and SENCOs to monitor progress and celebrate personal achievements.
• Scaffold daily tasks to encourage problem-solving and self-reliance.
