Job Title: Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Bolsover (S44)
Salary: GBP86 - GBP100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are working with a primary school in Bolsover to appoint a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant who can positively impact pupils facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is nurturing, resilient, and deeply passionate about inclusive education.

Role Overview:

As a Primary SEMH TA, you ll support pupils in Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2 who require tailored emotional and behavioural support. Your role will involve both 1:1 and small-group interventions designed to enhance well-being, promote positive behaviour, and re-engage pupils in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent emotional and behavioural support to children with SEMH needs.
  • Implement strategies and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to support emotional development.
  • Assist teachers with classroom management and the delivery of personalised plans.
  • Promote a safe and nurturing environment that fosters resilience and confidence.
  • Liaise with SENCOs, parents, and external professionals when required.
  • Track pupil progress and contribute to regular reviews and reports.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural difficulties, preferably within a primary setting.
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable nature, with a trauma-informed mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with young learners.
  • Relevant TA qualifications (Level 2/3) or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Team Teach or similar training is an advantage (training can be provided).
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable pupils.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
