Job summary

Education First Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Southwark. The role involves supporting pupils’ learning across early years to key stage 2, assisting with classroom activities and helping pupils access the curriculum.

The ideal candidate will have a patient, proactive approach, experience with 1:1 or small-group support is desirable, and availability for ASAP start.

Qualifications

• Experience working with primary-aged children across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 is desirable.
• Experience providing 1:1 and small-group support is advantageous.
• ASAP start

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with daily lessons and classroom activities.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils achieve their learning objectives.
• Assist with literacy, numeracy, phonics, reading and writing activities.
• Help pupils understand instructions and stay engaged in learning.
• Support children with additional learning needs and adapt approaches as required.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence and confidence in the classroom.
• Prepare learning materials and assist with practical classroom tasks.
• Monitor pupils' engagement and progress, sharing observations with the class teacher.
• Promote pupils' social development and positive relationships with peers.
• Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to maintain a supportive learning environment.
