Job Title: Primary School Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnsley S70 (and surrounding regions)
Salary: £430 – £525 per week (Depending on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Key Responsibilities as a Primary Teaching Assistant:

• Support teachers in planning and delivering dynamic, engaging lessons.
• Provide individual and small group support to students who need extra help.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage active student engagement.
• Support with preparing learning materials and activities.
• Safeguard and supervise children within school, in and out of the classroom.
• Work closely with the class teacher to ensure lessons run smoothly.

Requirements of the Primary Teaching Assistant:

• Previous experience in a teaching support role or working with children is desirable.
• A proactive and patient approach to supporting children’s learning.
• Strong communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents and foster positive relationships.
• Passionate about helping children develop confidence and achieve their potential.
• Empathetic, compassionate, and resilient nature.
• Adaptable and quick-thinking, able to respond effectively to diverse classroom situations.
• An enhanced DBS registered to the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
