Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd in Nottingham City Centre is seeking a KS1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Key Stage 1 from September 2026. The role is full-time and long-term temporary, paying £110-£120 per day, with weekly pay.

You will work alongside experienced teachers to deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions in phonics, reading, writing and maths, helping create an engaging, nurturing classroom environment.

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary setting.
  • Knowledge of KS1 requirements and phonics support.

Responsibilities

  • Support KS1 learning and deliver 1:1 and small group interventions in phonics, reading, writing and maths.
  • Reinforce classroom learning with creative activities and help with resources and displays.
  • Monitor pupil engagement and progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
  • Support pupils with SEND where appropriate and promote positive behaviour.

Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Nottingham City Centre from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Teaching Assistant who enjoys supporting children during the early stages of their primary education. Working alongside experienced teachers, you will help create an engaging and nurturing learning environment, supporting pupils to develop the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to flourish both academically and socially.

The school is looking for someone who is patient, proactive and committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 1, working closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics
  • Reinforce classroom learning through creative, practical and interactive activities
  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including those with SEND where appropriate
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence, confidence and resilience
  • Assist with classroom preparation, displays and learning resources
  • Monitor pupil engagement and progress, providing feedback to the class teacher
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues to support children's development

This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference to children's educational journey during this important stage of learning.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school
  • Experience supporting Key Stage 1 pupils is desirable
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous
  • Knowledge of phonics programmes such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc. is beneficial
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
  • Caring, reliable and committed to a long-term role
