Salary Grade: Scale 4

Contract - Full time, all year round, fixed term with possibility of permanent. Daily Hours: 7.45am – 11.45am; Break; 3pm – 6pm. Required as soon as possible.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for maintaining constant awareness of the physical condition of the building, furniture, fittings and equipment; repair/report defects or requisition work for repair, including authorising invoices for payment in accordance with financial regulations.
  • Undertake maintenance and repairs to the premises within the scope of a competent handyperson.
  • Complete and/or review all statutory testing requirements for the building and record paperwork relating to this.
  • Assist in providing a safe and healthy environment for all site users. Where delegated by the Head of Establishment, undertake duties as a Safety Liaison Officer.
  • Manage the efficient operation of the establishment’s heating system; monitor the use of the heating and lighting systems and promote cost consciousness and energy conservation.
  • Carry out internal and external cleaning of defined areas as directed by the Line Manager, including grounds and play areas, toilets, internal glass, walls, removal of graffiti and defined holiday cleaning duties.

Safeguarding and Recruitment

At Duncombe Primary School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

In line with KCSIE 2022 and safer recruitment practices, the school will conduct an online search for all shortlisted candidates. The online search is part of safeguarding checks and will seek publicly available information on candidates’ suitability to work with children. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further guidance and asked to clarify their online presence. References will be taken following shortlisting.
