We are currently seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Primary Mental Health Workers to join our nurturing team. You will be working within the School Based Needs Service as part of Mindworks Surreys Children and Young Peoples Service. Our borough-based service is designed around the THRIVE Framework, and you will primarily work in schools as part of a team of professionals who support young people, families, and schools in identifying needs and accessing the appropriate support at the right time. Your role will involve working with school staff to develop a comprehensive approach to mental health and wellbeing, providing consultations primarily to school staff and other professionals, with the potential to include parents and carers as needed. You will also be responsible for conducting risk and mental health assessments, as well as delivering treatment to children, young people, and families . We welcome applications with Mental Health training, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Family Therapists, Psychotherapists, Social Workers and other therapists who are passionate about working with children, young people, parents, and professionals. This role is perfect for those who enjoy a diverse range of responsibilities, as well as traveling and working from various locations.

The location of the role is in Chertsey.

Main duties of the job

About The Role

Within the role you will be required to:

To provide a school based primary mental health service for children and young people. Through a whole school approach, to work with key school staff to build on existing good practice and processes, upskill all staff and affect cultural change. With a specific reference to supporting young people with SEND, including ASC and ADHD.

To offer consultation, support, advice and training to school professionals on all aspects of mental health and wellbeing of children and their families, in addition to offering consultation and training to parents and carers, including those with young people with SEND.

To offer mental health assessments individually and to offer informed referrals to Specialist CYPS and Community Wellbeing and signpost to other appropriate countywide children and family services. To work with other services in support of a whole family approach.

To offer a variety of direct, evidence based therapeutic interventions to children, young people and their families and to hold a small case load.

This role requires a valid registration and at least 3 years of post-qualification experience working with children, young people, and families with mental health issues.
