Job description

Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It’s what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.

We are looking for a primary markets specialist in London to work with our group of journalists covering Europe's syndicated bond markets.

As a reporter in the group, you would tap into a developed network of sources to break news on bond offerings by both sovereign and corporate issuers -- from deal announcements to pricings -- while gathering intel that illuminates market trends. You would be expected to bring deep knowledge of the syndicated bond market to write for one of the most sophisticated and active group of readers on the Bloomberg Terminal.

You will need to have a collaborative nature and experience in real time news. Preferably, you'll also have an understanding of what banks, issuers and investors need, as well as knowledge of how the Bloomberg Terminal works.

As well as short, on the spot news items, you'll be expected to produce analysis on market trends, harnessing the power of Terminal data, and working with colleagues across the team in EMEA and globally.

We'll trust you to:
  • Monitor the new issue bond market and follow up with context and analysis
  • Track trends in credit for moves and build out ideas
  • Provide a constant stream analysis to expert and non-expert readers
  • Work well and collaborate with colleagues in EMEA and globally
  • Recognize and work on big themes and ideas
  • Be able to write and present information across multiple formats
You'll need to have:
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Developed financial markets sources
  • Ability to write quickly and clearly under deadline pressure
  • A proven ability to multi-task and prioritize
We'd love to see:
  • Prior experience working in real-time news or in bond syndications or data
