Job summary

Dorchester Learning Centre, part of Dorset Council, invites applications for a Primary Lead to run our small primary provision (up to 20 pupils) and to lead our dedicated team. The role combines teaching with leadership responsibilities within a Trauma and Mental Health Informed School setting.

You will shape curriculum, model excellent teaching, and work closely with families and professionals to support vulnerable pupils. Interviews are scheduled in October 2026.

Qualifications

• Experienced primary teacher with EYFS experience.
• Ability to lead, motivate and support colleagues.
• Strong understanding of curriculum, teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day organisation of the primary provision.
• Provide leadership and support to teaching and support staff.
• Develop and deliver an ambitious primary curriculum.
• Promote high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour.
• Monitor pupil progress and adapt provision to needs.
• Support staff with SEMH needs and barriers to learning.
• Collaborate with families and professionals to secure positive outcomes.
• Safeguard safeguarding and pupil wellbeing; lead teaching in the provision.
