Primary Classroom Teacher

School District 10 (Arrow Lakes) has the following continuing contract teaching position starting for the school year:

Position: Primary (K/1 Classroom Teacher)

School: Burton Elementary School

FTE: 1.0 Continuing

Effective: September 2, 2025

Salary Range: $63,192 - $112,685

School District 10 in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC is situated on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sinixt Peoples. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative educator to join a great team of principals, vice principals, teachers, support staff, parents, students, and community members. Required characteristics and strengths include:

  • A valid Teaching Certificate from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Experience in primary teaching, specifically kindergarten
  • Ability to plan and design engaging learning activities using BC curriculum
  • Strong skills in teaching and assessing early literacy and numeracy
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage all learners
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and co-plan for diversity and engagement
  • Experience integrating socioemotional and self-regulated learning
  • Understanding of Indigenous cultures and experience incorporating First Peoples Principles of Learning into teaching
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities
  • Experience facilitating outdoor learning focused on place consciousness and cross-curricular learning
  • Willingness to co-develop the School Growth Plan and organize collaborative learning
  • Effective assessment strategies that engage learners and foster growth
  • Experience with professional learning inquiry to inform practice
  • Ability to build relationships with parents and the community
  • Willingness to participate in extracurricular activities (asset)
