Job description

Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic HLTA looking to make a real difference in a supportive primary school community?

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a primary school based in Wigan from September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term role in an OFSTED rated ‘Good’ school. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering planned lessons and interventions across a range of subjects and year groups (EYFS to KS2)
  • Leading small group or one-to-one support sessions
  • Supporting teachers with planning and classroom management
  • Providing cover supervision when required
  • Assisting in the monitoring and assessment of pupil progress

We are looking for someone who:

  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Has experience working with primary-aged pupils
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Has a proactive and flexible approach
  • Is committed to the well-being and progress of every child
