We are looking for a Primary Healthcare Nurse to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at RAF Benson Medical Centre, in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
This is a locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.
Pay rate:
- PAYE – £21.85 per hour
- Umbrella - £25.13 per hour
Job Description:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), delivering Primary Health Care (PHC) services and elements of Occupational Health and Health Promotion to the Defence Medical Services (DMS) entitled Population at Risk (PAR).
- Be responsible to the Senior Medical Officer / Lead Clinician / Senior Nurse and provide routine clinics to meet the needs of the organisation and the PAR.
- Develop and implement local programmes of care/service delivery within scope of practice; conduct electronic searches and perform audits to promote quality improvement.
- Assist in supervising untrained staff within the practice, under guidance of the Senior Nurse / Lead Clinician.
- Undertake mandatory training as per DPHC guidelines and maintain up-to-date certifications.
- Maintain patient safety and support healthcare governance activities.
- Obtain training and demonstrate competence to issue medications via Patient Group Directives (PGDs) and Patient Specific Directions (PSDs).
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing basic ward-based nursing care within a DPHC bedded down facility if required.
Essential requirements/Qualifications/Experience:
- Registered Nurse (Adult) Level 1 with NMC, with a valid PIN and no restrictions.
- Current, valid personal medical indemnity insurance.
- Minimum of one year’s post-registration experience as Band 5 or higher in a Primary Healthcare setting within the last three years.
- Up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, AED, and Infection Prevention and Control certifications.
- Experience with Medical Early Warning Systems (MEWS).
- Completed Immunisation and Vaccination Foundation Training with current certification or proof of clinical competency.
- Up-to-date immunisation and vaccination training, venepuncture certification, and safeguarding training up to Level 3.
