Job Description:

Currently we’re looking for a CDAE specialising in HV Primary Substation Design to support our customer on a 12-month contract basis (outside IR35).

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Manage & lead all primary engineering activities from project start to As-Built stage, adhering to Project Specifications.
• Instruct, supervise & coordinate with other engineering teams within the business unit (local & remote), internal & external partners, sub-suppliers, secondary engineers & civil engineers.
• Review HV plant design packages as per NG/ET/SR188.
• Complete relevant sections of the DID.
• Submit completed Design Packages for Design Compliance Audit.
• Manage all design changes according to the NG design change management process.
• Attend Design Review Meetings (DRMs) and Hazard Review Meetings (HRMs) as required.
• Review and certify design packages and issue the DCAAR.
• Coordinate civil designs and interfaces between construction planning, steel structure engineering, protection and control systems, auxiliary power systems, and equipment suppliers.
• Participate in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, handle site queries, and produce as-built documentation.
• Manage primary engineering budget, schedule, forecast, risk, and change activities.
• Lead large and complex EHV/HV Air & Gas Insulated Substation (AIS & GIS) projects in the UK.
• Provide technical solutions for substations, including single line diagrams, layouts, and detailed drawings, following standards and customer specifications.
• Prepare Design Intent Document (DID) / Functional Design Specification (FDS) based on supplier inputs.
• Issue RFQs for HV plant equipment.
• Prepare bill of quantities (PEMS), deviations, and clarifications for technical solutions.
• Review supplier designs and factory acceptance test plans.
