Job summary

John E Batty Primary School in Redcar is seeking a dedicated Primary Classroom Teacher to join our team on a fixed-term basis from 02 January 2027 to 21 July 2027. The post is full time (32.5 hours per week) with salary on the MPS1–MPS6 scale and reports to the Headteacher.

You will plan and teach well-structured lessons, assess pupil progress, adapt teaching to meet needs, and contribute to all aspects of school life within the Galileo Academy Trust, including preparing pupils for external

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with registration under the relevant Teaching Standards.
• Experience in primary education is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following school plans and schemes of work.
• Assess, monitor, record and report pupil progress, using assessment data effectively.
• Adapt teaching to meet the strengths and needs of pupils.
• Set high expectations to motivate and challenge pupils.
• Promote good progress and outcomes for pupils.
• Demonstrate strong subject and curriculum knowledge.
• Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external tests.

Teaching

• Plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work
• Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment
• Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils
• Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
• Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
• Demonstrate good subject, and curriculum knowledge
• Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external tests
