Job purpose:

The post holder will take responsibility for the teaching of a class of children determined on an annual basis by the Principal in accordance with the duties listed.

Main activities and responsibilities:

  • Ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the National Curriculum and deliver it effectively to the pupils.
  • To provide a broad and balanced curriculum for the children, in line with school policies and practices.
  • To direct the use of support staff assigned to the class
  • To have high expectations of pupils in terms of their behaviour and achievement

Qualifications and training:

  • Qualified Teachers status
  • Must have taught Key Stage 1
  • Experience in teaching in a state primary school

Professional knowledge and understanding:

  • Ability to present and speak to members of the public, stakeh Understanding of current good practice in learning and development olders and school community in accurate spoken English.
  • Must understand expectations set out in the Ofsted Framework
  • A sound knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • An excellent understanding of curriculum and effective pedagogy
  • Understanding of current good practice in learning and development
  • Knowledge of phonics teaching
  • Knowledge of effective strategies which meet the needs of all pupils including: EAL, SEND, PP, more able
  • Understanding and commitment to implementing school policies: -participation in and implementation of School Behaviour Policy Awareness of health and safety in the work place -Implementation of equal opportunities policy
