Job description

Primary Care Remote Pharmacy Technician (TPN-REM-PT)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a remote-based Pharmacy Technician due to company growth and expansion. This full-time role involves working across various PCN contracts throughout the UK. We are seeking highly motivated and focused Pharmacy Technicians responsible for the smooth operation of daily activities within general practice, providing clinical support and advice to patients while adhering to safety guidelines.

Full-time hours are within the core opening hours of the GP practice.

Main duties of the job

As a remote Pharmacy Technician, you will confidently operate within professional standards and boundaries, supporting your General Practice team, Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Technicians within TPN. Your responsibilities include resolving medication-related queries, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing access to healthcare.

Job responsibilities
  • Medication reconciliations using clinical letters and post-hospital discharge summaries
  • Medicine management, including prescription screening and processing
  • Responding to and communicating medication queries from patients
  • Coordinating with local pharmacies regarding stock issues and shortages
  • Medication synchronization in line with regular repeat prescriptions
  • Monitoring recalls (e.g., BP, blood tests, annual reviews)
  • Conducting prescribing audits aligned with CQC/QOF targets (training available)
  • Standard and annual medication monitoring
  • Shared care protocols
  • Actioning medicines safety alerts from CAS/MHRA/ICB
  • Performing Level 1 and 2 medication reviews (training available)
  • Assisting with Pre-SMR (Structured Medication Review) screening (training available)
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPHC
  • Enrolled in or completed the CPPE Primary Care pathway
Experience
  • 6-12+ months experience in primary care/GP practice setting
  • Experience with EMIS, System 1, or both
  • Reliable internet connection/WIFI during working hours
