We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team at HMP Winchester, a category B/C prison located in Winchester.

HMP Winchester is a young male and male remand prison with a capacity for 700 inmates. The on-site healthcare unit provides primary medical services, mental health support, and substance abuse programs.

Hours: 3 long days a week (37.5 hours) - Weekend working is also expected on a rota basis.

Salary: This position is full-time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £28,690 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

• Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care.
• Be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications required

• NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care.
• A non-judgmental and compassionate approach.
• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures.
