A leading healthcare provider in Leiston is seeking a full-time Health Care Assistant or Trainee Health Care Assistant to join a dynamic team. We are excited to announce a vacancy available for anenthusiastic and flexible, full-time experienced Health Care Assistant or Trainee Health Care Assistant to join our team atLeiston Surgery. We are looking for an individual to work 37.5 hours per weekworking across 4-5 days.
Duty patterns are variable but the practice core hours are from7.45am-6.30pm Monday to Friday.

Duties andResponsibilities:
Check patient identification against GP request and confirm details withthepatient
Provide Phlebotomy in accordance to training and procedures
Provide simple Wound care/Dressings in accordance to training andprocedures
Take physiological measurements from patients including blood pressure,pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height and weight (body mass index), visualacuity, urinalysis and ECG
Administer B12 injections flu, covid and pneumonia vaccinations under PatientSpecific Directions
Recording and monitoring cold chain storage and reporting anyabnormalities
Undertake new patient health checks, peak-flow measurement, suture and clip removal and carry out other tasks for which you have receivedappropriate training
Fit 24 hour BP machines as directed and in accordance with training andprocedure
Assist GPs undertaking minor surgery
Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and afterpatient interventions
Clearing and restocking of consulting/treatment rooms, including timelyorder of stock items under your control

Summary of Main Duties
Workingunder the indirect supervision of the Clinical Lead, and strictly in accordancewith specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Health Care Assistant mustsupport the practice nursing team in the delivery of care within their scope ofpractice to the entitled patient population. The healthcare assistant willdeliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventativecare, health promotion and patient education.
The surgery operates at two locations and this post is required to work at both,and on occasion to move between the two sites during the working day. Inaddition to this, the practice has a number of patients who are housebound orlive in care homes and the HCA may be required to visit these patients in thecommunity to obtain blood samples or to take physiological measurements.

Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being by participating inpatient health promotion and screening initiatives
Give accurate and appropriate information to patients within owncompetence
Ensure that anomalies are reported to a senior member of the clinicalteam
Notify the GP of any significant patient issues
Ensure full and accurate recording in the patients computerised record
Carry out administrative tasks for example, but not limited to, call andrecall activities and stock takes as directed by senior members of the practiceteam
Undertake specific clinical activities for named patients that have beendelegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual.
Trainingwill be provided to ensure competence in all of the Duties and Responsibilitiesdetailed below.
