We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Clinical Lead to join our Primary Care team at HMP Doncaster, a category B Prison located in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

We are seeking a Primary Care Clinical Lead to join our team at HMP Doncaster. This position offers the chance to deliver excellent healthcare services in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Hours

Monday to Friday - 07:00/08:00 - 16:00

Salary

This is a full-time position with an annual salary up to £55,996, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Primary Care Clinical Lead, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clinical leadership and management to registered nurses and care teams.
  • Working closely with partners to maintain a high-quality clinical service.
  • Modeling a culture of compassion, care, courage, commitment, communication, and competence.
  • Coaching, line managing, and developing clinician staff, supporting audits, governance, and reviewing clinical/non-clinical protocols.

Qualifications & Experience required
  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
  • Understanding of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • Non-judgmental, compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Line management experience and mentorship skills.

Experience in hospital, community, or prison settings is preferred but not essential.

Job responsibilities

We seek an experienced clinical lead to provide leadership and management to nurses and care teams, deputize for senior staff when required, and collaborate with partners to maintain high standards of care. You will model a culture of compassion, care, courage, and competence, support audits and governance, and contribute to clinical protocols.

You will chair healthcare meetings, provide clinical supervision, and support investigations. You will deliver workshops, develop team learning, and work with the Head of Healthcare to identify and mitigate clinical risks.

Additional responsibilities include managing staff rotas, handling agency nurse hours, and supporting patient engagement strategies. You will help shape our healthcare strategy to deliver outstanding, personalized, evidence-based care that makes a difference.
