Qualifications

  • Approximately 3 years of relevant experience or related engineering work.
  • HGV fitter, car mechanic, agricultural engineer, or military vehicle technician considered.
  • Health & Safety training is desirable.

Position Overview: As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will work in conjunction with the controller to maximise the operational availability of equipment for the customer through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance servicing and machine inspections. You will identify possible issues that may impact availability and carry out minor repairs as requested. During this role, you will serve as an ambassador for safety, ensuring safe servicing practices for yourself and the customer.

Major Job Functions
  1. Preventative Maintenance Servicing: Routine servicing of equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, including oil sampling (75%)
  2. Machine Inspection: Visual and mechanical analysis to identify developing issues in systems such as hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, and mechanical (20%)
  3. Minor Repairs: Carrying out minor repairs, installing telematic systems, and undercarriage inspections (5%)

Requirements:

This is a field-based role requiring a full driving license held for at least 2 years, subject to DVLA checks.

Working Hours:

43 hours/week with flexible start and finish times. Includes one Saturday in three at overtime rate.

Skills:

Basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and vehicle electrics/electronics related to heavy mobile plant servicing and repair.

Responsibilities:

Attend customer sites, perform preventive maintenance, liaise with service controllers and customers, ensure high standards and safety, complete documentation accurately, and maintain company vehicle and equipment.

Qualifications and Experience:

Approximately 3 years of relevant experience or related engineering work, such as HGV fitter, car mechanic, agricultural engineer, military vehicle technician, or a formal apprenticeship with at least C&G Level 1. Health & Safety training is desirable but not essential.
