The Prevent and Hate Crime Manager is a high-profile specialist role overseeing both Prevent Delivery and hate crime in Tower Hamlets. They are also responsible for managing the Protective Security agenda.

We are seeking a dynamic, versatile, and resilient individual with extensive experience in Prevent delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring that Prevent (and other elements of the Government's CONTEST strategy) are delivered in line with statutory requirements and balanced against compliance with the Equality Act 2010 and the Human Rights Act. The role also requires extensive experience with the Channel process and familiarity with the requirements set by key stakeholders including the Metropolitan Police and Home Office.

The post holder should also have experience developing strategies and activities to tackle hate crime in a community setting.

The role manages 5 staff in the Prevent, Hate Crime, and Protective Security team.

You should be prepared to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel for business purposes.

This is a Temporary Fixed Term Contract until March 2026 and is subject to annual renewal of grant funding by the Home Office. The role also requires passing national security clearance to the level of SC.

Tower Hamlets' vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent, and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
