EDF Energy Limited is seeking a Pressure Compliance Engineer for the Aztec West, Bristol site on a temporary/contract basis. The role focuses on managing pressure systems compliance and structural integrity within a nuclear-regulated environment.

The successful candidate will liaise with project managers and regulators, ensuring compliance across the programme, with potential travel to mainland Europe. A engineering degree and relevant nuclear/pressure systems experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in related Engineering or Science discipline.
  • Chartered membership preferred or capable of being chartered.
  • Experience in large-scale projects in regulated industries.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and maintenance of pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements for their work scope.
  • Ensure project policies, processes and contracts are implemented to manage pressure systems regulation and safety cases.
  • Make arbitration and technical decisions on HPC's behalf regarding pressure systems regulation and structural integrity compliance.
  • Manage the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements for the programme.
  • Maintain personnel SQEP status to support nuclear baseline requirements.

Job Purpose / Overview


The Pressure Compliance Mechanical Engineer will report to the Pressure System Completions and Integration Manager and will take responsibility for managing the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements on behalf of a specific scope identified by the Pressure System Completions and Integration Manager and Pressure Compliance Lead, ensuring appropriate implementation and compliance to meet HPC project needs.


The role holder will support the implementation of pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements within specific projects, on behalf of a specific programme. They will support the project managers in ensuring compliance and delivery for HPC.


The role will require good technical and organisational capabilities to effectively interface with Project Managers and relevant stakeholders in the programme, the ONR, third party organisations and support the supply chain in delivery.

The role may require trips abroad (mostly mainland Europe).

Principal Accountabilities (Outputs of the Job - Activities & Decisions)

  • Support the development and maintenance of the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements for their appointed work scope (normally specific projects within a programme).
  • Ensure that project policies, processes and contracts are implemented and delivered to the right quality to manage pressure systems regulation and structural integrity safety case requirements.
  • Responsible for arbitration and technical decisions on HPC's behalf in regards to pressure systems regulation and structural integrity compliance for their programme.
  • Manage on behalf of the Programme Pressure Compliance Lead the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements.
  • Maintain personnel SQEP status to support nuclear baseline requirements

Knowledge

  • Managing structural integrity and pressure regulation compliance requirements in the nuclear industry.
  • Mechanical engineering design and operation of pressure equipment specifically built to RCC-M or ASME codes.
  • Working in a multidisciplinary and matrix environment.
  • Working with regulators and supply chain companies to coach through the pressure compliance process.
  • Knowledge of the nuclear industry and EDF group would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to plant in the UK would be a plus.

Skills

  • Ability to be focussed on the requirements of the project, to show a 'can-do' approach to work and to work independently or with others to achieve the team goals.
  • Ability to credibly interact with various stakeholders and to influence the internal teams and contractor partners, working in matrix organisation.
  • Have awareness of technical limitation and be able to involve others when required.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a related Engineering or Science based discipline.
  • Chartered Member of appropriate professional institution would be a plus (IMeche Preferred), or capable of being chartered.

Experience

  • Relevant Experience in large scale project or asset management within a highly regulated industry sector as Power Generation, Nuclear Industry or Oil &Gas / Petro-Chemical.
  • Relevant experiences in relation with the engineering topics associated to pressure systems manufacture, installation, structural integrity and conformity assessment.
  • Experience in multi-cultural industrial projects.
