Job summary

Interaction Recruitment Group in Gateshead is seeking a Press Operator to operate and maintain mechanical or hydraulic presses within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment. You will set up presses, fit dies and tools, and ensure high-quality output while adhering to health and safety standards.

Shifts run 6.30–16.30 and 12.30–22.30 Monday to Thursday on a permanent, full-time basis. Salary is £12.71 per hour, with responsibilities including quality checks, records, and teamwork to hit

Responsibilities

Job Description

The operator works within an engineering and manufacturing environment and contributes to meeting production targets while maintaining equipment functionality and safety standards.

Job Duties

• Set up and adjust press machines according to job specifications, including fitting dies, tools and materials.
• Operate presses to shape, cut, or assemble materials, ensuring consistent quality and accuracy.
• Monitor the press during operation to detect faults or defects and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of the press equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Inspect finished products against quality standards and report any deviations to the relevant department.
• Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced and any issues encountered.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and targets.
• Assist in training new operators or apprentices as required.
