Job summary

Interaction Recruitment Group in Gateshead is seeking a Press Operator to operate and maintain mechanical or hydraulic presses within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment. You will set up presses, fit dies and tools, and ensure high-quality output while adhering to health and safety standards.

Shifts run 6.30–16.30 and 12.30–22.30 Monday to Thursday on a permanent, full-time basis. Salary is £12.71 per hour, with responsibilities including quality checks, records, and teamwork to hit

Qualifications

• Basic literacy and numeracy to understand instructions and records.
• Health and safety awareness relevant to press operation.
• Noise awareness and use of hearing protection where required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust press machines, fitting dies, tools and materials.
• Operate presses to shape, cut or assemble materials as specified.
• Monitor press operation to detect faults and take corrective action.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of press equipment.
• Inspect finished products against quality standards and report deviations.
• Maintain production records including quantities and issues.
• Adhere to health and safety policies at all times.
• Collaborate with team to meet schedules and targets.
• Assist in training new operators or apprentices as required.
