Job Description

We are offering a rare opportunity to join our award-winning publicity team to work on innovative campaigns for leading figures in commercial nonfiction. HarperNonFiction is one of the UK’s top publishers in entertainment and lifestyle genres, with authors like Cher, Peter Kay, Jay Shetty, Debbie Harry, Rob Beckett, Marcus Wareing, and Adam Buxton. Our imprints include Mudlark & Smart Thinking and Thorsons, covering memoir, music, sport, self-help, personal development, cookery, health & fitness, and gifts.

This is an exciting period of growth and change. You will design and implement integrated, strategic campaigns across our three publishing verticals—Entertainment, Lifestyle, and Mudlark—and help grow our lists and brands through creative and entrepreneurial thinking.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Plan and execute fully integrated PR campaigns for books across our imprints, liaising with media, festivals, bookshops, and digital platforms. Develop innovative publicity strategies aligned with key objectives for individual titles and authors.
  2. Deliver standout publicity campaigns across traditional and digital media channels, ensuring coverage in newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, online outlets, and social media.
  3. Organize author tours and visits to boost author profiles and sales.
  4. Collaborate with Editorial, Marketing, and Sales teams to maximize publicity opportunities.
  5. Generate trade press releases and announce new acquisitions.
  6. Maintain and develop relationships with key journalists, producers, and online media contacts.
  7. Stay informed about trends and news within nonfiction publishing to remain market-aware.
  8. Assist the Publicity Team with administrative tasks.
Experience Required
  • A genuine passion for nonfiction genres such as memoir, sports, cookery, wellness, and self-improvement.
  • Experience in managing integrated and dynamic PR campaigns.
  • Knowledge or experience within a publishing house.
  • A proven track record of high-quality author care.
  • Strong understanding of diverse media opportunities and established media contacts.
  • Hybrid working capability (3 days in-office).
