Role Overview

The Talent Set is thrilled to be working with an Higher education institution in their search for a temporary Press Officer

Key Responsibilities

Act as the main contact for journalists, ensuring timely and accurate responses to enquiries and connecting them with relevant experts.

Proactively identify stories and achievements to create impactful media campaigns in the UK and internationally.

Build and nurture relationships with media outlets to secure high-quality coverage.

Write engaging news releases, media briefings, social media posts, and expert comment pieces that highlight the University s impact.

Keep website and social media channels up to date in collaboration with the Communications team.

Track media and higher education trends to identify opportunities for positive coverage.

Evaluate media activity and prepare reports to measure reach and impact.

Monitor press and social media, providing updates and analysis for leadership.

Person Specification

Proven track record in media and communications, with significant hands-on experience

Confident in using social media platforms and digital communication tools, with a proactive approach to keeping skills up to date

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, able to adapt messaging for different audiences

Skilled at building and maintaining effective professional networks

Highly organised, with the ability to deliver accurate work at pace and meet tight deadlines

Collaborative team player who works effectively with colleagues and stakeholders

What s On Offer

Offer flexible working, either hybrid in their Sout-East office or fully remote

A rate of up to £127.42 per-day + £15 daily holiday for the successful candidate.

An initial 3 -month contract with the potential to be extended.
