Job description

Do you have significant event management experience in a creative setting? Are you well versed in event planning, delivery and evaluation? Can you work effectively with multiple stakeholders and cross-departmentally? Are you highly organised, methodical in your approach, with a keen eye for detail?

In this newly created role, we are looking for a Press Night and Events Manager to take the lead on working with the production producers, Co-Artistic Directors, Press & Communications team and creative teams to deliver the event aspects of press nights and season launches, ensuring the smooth running of events in Stratford-upon-Avon and at the Barbican Centre.

Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director key areas of responsibility include (please see the full job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):

  • Collaborating with RSC colleagues, Board and volunteer leadership to manage every aspect of Stratford-upon-Avon and Barbican press night events ensuring the highest quality standards for success
  • Managing ticket allocations, coordinating guest lists, invitations and RSVPs across the organisation
  • Organising pre-show, interval and post-show entertainment and hospitality
  • Working with Co-Artistic Directors and departments to deliver season launches across the year, securing venues and coordinating guest lists.
  • Delivering organisational events, such as staff celebrations and supporting with Board and Governor events.
  • Building strong relationships with guests attending events
  • Managing budgets, generating invoices and ensuring financial data is accurate

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:

  • Demonstrable event management experience
  • Experience of working with artists and creatives in a producer environment
  • Well developed skills in event planning, deliver and evaluation
  • Excellent organisational skills with methodical attention to detail
  • Strong financial management skills
  • Experience of working in a multi-stakeholder / cross-departmental setting.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Stratford-upon-Avon, with occasional travel to London.

You will be working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, although occasional weekend and evening work will be required. We are committed to a culture of flexible working and this role will provide the opportunity for some flexibility in hours and location of work, ensuring that the specific remit of the role is delivered.
