Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and proactivePress and Campaigns Officerto join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and delivering effective press and media campaigns and events to promote the Foundation's work and engage key audiences. With the Director of Communications you will work closely with journalists, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure our messaging reaches the right audiences through the most effective channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement media and campaign strategies to raise awareness of the Foundation's work.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, statements, and opinion pieces to relevant media outlets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media influencers.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide analysis on the effectiveness of press activities.
  • Respond to media inquiries, arranging interviews and briefings for key spokespeople.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align messaging across all communication channels.
  • Support reactive communications by preparing responses.
  • Plan and execute targeted campaigns and events to influence public opinion and policy decisions.
  • Work with the social media staff to write and suggest ideas for engaging content for digital and social media platforms to support media and campaign objectives.
  • Maintain a database of media contacts and track outreach efforts.

Person specification

Essential

  • Proven experience in press relations, media, or public affairs.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of traditional and digital media landscapes.
  • Experience in planning and delivering successful media campaigns and events.

Desirable

  • Background in journalism, PR, communications, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of policy, advocacy, or campaigning in a relevant sector.
  • Experience using media monitoring and analytics tools.
  • Experience of using google analytics and social media advertising.
