Job summary

Swan Surgery is seeking a Prescription Clerk/Dispenser to join our busy prescribing team. The role is permanent, full-time or part-time with a minimum of 22.5 hours weekly, across Swan Surgery and Forest Surgery on a four-week rota.

Responsibilities include processing repeat prescriptions, handling queries, dispensing duties where trained, stock control, and maintaining patient records. Training and support are provided to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy qualification or experience as prescription clerk.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in busy workloads.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues.
• Flexible team player with willingness to learn and adapt to two-site rota.

Responsibilities

• Manage repeat prescription requests and ensure timely processing.
• Respond to prescription queries from patients, pharmacies, nursing homes and district nurses.
• Carry out dispensing duties where trained and record all information accurately.
• Order and maintain stock per formulary and conduct stock checks.
• Ensure controlled drugs are handled under legal requirements and procedures.
• Refer to clinicians for medication alternatives when necessary.
• Maintain patient records and complete recalls and reports.
• Provide a helpful service at the dispensary and handle telephone enquiries.
• Support opening/closing of the dispensary and keep the area secure.
