Job description

Victoria Surgery is seeking a reliable and organised prescription clerk to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will support the clinical and administrative team by processing prescription requests efficiently and accurately, ensuring patients receive their medications safely and on time. This is a part-time position, working the following hours: Monday 8.30am-3.30pm, Tuesday and Thursday 8.30am-5.00pm and Friday 8.30am-6.30pm.

Main duties of the job
  • Ensuring that requests for repeat prescriptions are actioned within 72 hours. This includes checking email requests, requests via patient phone line and answering machine.
  • Responding to all queries and requests from chemists, nursing homes and district nurses, regarding the issue of prescriptions.
  • Keeping repeat prescription information up-to-date in the patient journal, such as letters and doctors' requests.
  • Distribution medications to patients for collection.
  • Medicine management liaising and discussing any enquires or queries raised by the clinical team.
  • Flexibility to cover other areas when required multi-skill mix.
  • Keep up-to-date with all prescribing guidelines and protocols, relevant to the position.

Our practice team consists of 9 list holding GPs and a dedicated clinical, management, administration and dispensary team, who recognisethe importance of a good work-life balance.

We are part of the Bury St Edmunds Primary Care Network and the successful candidate will work alongside a teamincluding paramedics, social prescriber, health and wellbeing coach, care coordinators and a pharmacy technician.
