Prescribing Clerk

Due to service development, VidaHealthcare is currently looking to recruit a reliable and hardworking person to join our busy Pharmacy and Dispensary team. This position will be based predominantly at Gayton Road Health Centre (however multi-site working is expected).

This position is part-time, and the successful candidate must have the flexibility to be available to cover extra hours for annual leave and short notice sickness.

Our patients demand the highest standards of care and if you are conscientious with a strong team-working ethic, with the ability to achieve targets during lone working, then this could be the ideal part-time role for you.

Experience in this field is essential.

Main duties of the job

Job Description

1. Searching and processing repeat prescription requests and queries regarding requests for acute medications.
2. Identifying specials and high quantities on prescriptions.
3. Seeking alternative medications for unavailable/shortages/discontinuations, etc.
4. Switching medications to most cost-effective brands in line with local and national Medicines Optimisation Policies.
5. Monitoring and reviewing prescribing of OTC and low-value medications.
6. Carry out medicines reconciliation for complex hospital discharges and patients with multiple medication changes.
7. Implement response to MHRA safety alerts where appropriate.
8. Identifying new dispensing patients.
9. Identifying medication review patients.
10. Supporting with prescribing/dispensing policies/SOPs.
11. Handling high-risk drug requests.
12. Supporting the care homes with medication queries, ordering processes, and medicines waste.

Qualifications

Essential

• Good standard of general education (essential).
• Two GCSEs (or equivalent preferably Science/Maths and English).
• Computer literate.
• Ability to work effectively with others.

Desirable

• Previous experience of working within the NHS.
