Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a nurse/ODP-led role focusing on pre-operative risk assessment. You will undertake complex and non-complex assessments and support the patient pathway across the surgical service.

The post holder will implement, coordinate and deliver high-quality care for pre-operative patients, reading and acting on assessments, and referring to specialists when required.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse or ODP with NMC/HPC registration.
• Completed a nursing preceptorship.
• Nursing degree or ODP degree or equivalent.
• Preoperative assessment course; experience in the surgical directorate.
• Post-NMC registration experience and ability to coordinate workload and supervise the team for safe patient care.
• Experience within pre-operative assessment unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide nurse-led complex and non-complex peri-operative risk assessment.
• Coordinate workload and supervise the team to ensure high quality, safe patient care.
• Prepare and support the patient's pathway, referring to outside specialist help if required.
• Deliver effective, client-centred pre-operative assessment and care.

We look to ensure a quality focused and safe assessment service for all patients. You would be providing nurse led complex and non-complex peri-operative risk assessment, undertaking a variety of skills and on-going competencies to assist in the smooth running and delivery of the service., The post holder will be responsible for implementing, co-ordinating and delivering effective, high-quality care for the pre-operative patient, following a client-centred model of practice and ensuring the area of work runs smoothly and efficiently .To make appropriate verbal and written assessment to gain information relating to a patient's surgery. act on such assessments in preparing and supporting the patient's pathway, referring to outside specialist help if required., To read more information about the advertised role, and the main job duties/responsibilities please open the Job Description and Person Specification located under the supporting documents heading. • Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with NMC or HPC registration
• Completion of a registered nursing preceptorship
  Nursing degree / Operating department practitioner degree or equivalent
• Preoperative Assessment Course, Experience working within the surgical directorate
• Proven post NMC registration experience, Ability to demonstrate and and interest and understanding of the requirements of preop-operative assessment, Ability to coordinate your workload and supervise members of the team, ensuring high quality, safe and effective patient care
• Previous experience within pre-operative assessment unit
