Job summary

Umicore Coating Services in Dundee is seeking an Optical Coating Technician to join its thin-film optics production site. The role involves operating coating machines, loading/unloading precision optics and collecting data on reflection, transmission and quality.

You will interpret specifications, ensure proper machine setup and monitor production to maintain high yields. Full training provided; applicants should have good manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Good manual dexterity and a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to read and understand job orders/instructions.
Experience with operating PC/PLC based machinery.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Awareness of 5S and continuous improvement methodologies.
Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

Prepare and operate a variety of thin-film optical coating machines and equipment.
Load, unload, and inspect precision optics.
Scan post-production parts to collect reflection, absorption, and transmission data.
Conduct environmental performance testing of optics.
Interpret specification drawings and ensure machine set-up is correct.
Monitor production to help avoid system failures and coating defects.
Exceed customer expectations with high quality and yields.
Adhere to company health and safety procedures.
Work as a team to succeed.
