Job summary

Gap Technical Ltd is recruiting for a Machine / Metal Operator in the Welwyn Garden City area (near Hatfield). The role operates on a 6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm schedule, Monday to Friday, with overtime available.

You will be involved in etching metal parts, reading specifications, masking surfaces, and performing quality checks in a safety-conscious facility. Candidates must be able to work to tight tolerances, wear a face-fit mask for H&S requirements, and maintain a clean workspace.

Qualifications

• Experience with metal etching processes and immersion equipment preferred.
• Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and process specifications.
• Attention to surface cleanliness and maskant application.

Responsibilities

• Etch specified portions of metal parts using immersion equipment, templates, hand tools and precision instruments.
• Read work orders and blueprints to locate etch areas and determine operation sequences.
• Clean surfaces to ensure maskant adhesion and apply maskant to etch areas.
• Immerse parts in etching solutions for required times and rinse after processing.
• Measure etched parts with micrometers and scales to ensure conformance to spec.
