Job summary

Qioptiq Ltd designs and manufactures market leading Optronic solutions for Defence & Aerospace applications. The role involves following process sheets, setting up machinery and ensuring quality at every stage of precision component production.

The successful candidate will have GCSEs in Maths, English and Science (4/C or above), with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent desirable. Health and safety compliance and flexibility are essential in a workshop environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSE requirement in Maths, English and Science at grade 4/C or higher.
  • Desirable NVQ Level 3 or equivalentMechanical Engineering qualification or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Follow process sheets and planning docs, escalating issues to Senior Technicians, Team Leader or Engineer.
  • Ensure component quality and dimensions are correct for subsequent processing.
  • Select, inspect and prepare tooling to ensure precise production of components and assemblies.
  • Perform preparatory work to achieve precision components with minimal losses.
  • Maintain quality and operating standards at each stage of manufacture.
  • Set up machinery for efficient production of precision components.
  • Inspect components and determine alterations needed for finished parts.
  • Re-work damaged components to recover losses where possible.
  • Instruct and assist other operators in machinery operation and processes.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and maintained per schedule and departmental standards.
  • Support continuous improvement programmes and adapt to team goals.

Education

GCSE in Maths, English and Science at 4/C or above
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Mechanical Engineering Qualification
