Job summary

Manpower Scotland is seeking a permanent CNC Turner / Miller to join a busy engineering workshop in Glasgow. The role focuses on producing precision components using manual lathes, milling machines, and CNC mills, while meeting tight tolerances and quick turnaround requirements.

The successful candidate will read drawings, set up equipment, and work safely in a collaborative environment that supports continuous improvement and maintains high standards of accuracy and housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Experience in manual turning and milling to tight tolerances.
• Experience with CNC milling and lathes.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret job sheets.
• Proficient with micrometers, vernier calipers and other gauges.
• Awareness of health and safety practices in a machine shop.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines to produce precision components.
• Operate CNC milling machines and lathes as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and job sheets accurately.
• Select appropriate tools, measure and check work using gauges and instruments.
• Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish to specification.
• Carry out routine machine maintenance and safe material handling.
• Collaborate with fabrication and gearbox repair teams to meet deadlines.
• Support urgent jobs and contribute to continuous improvement in machining processes.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area.
