Job summary

Octagon Group in Bristol is seeking an experienced CNC Operator/Programmer to join a precision manufacturing team. The role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes to produce high-accuracy components.

The ideal candidate will read engineering drawings, apply GD&T requirements, and optimise toolpaths to improve efficiency and quality in a machine shop environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CNC Operator or CNC Programmer or similar.
• Strong knowledge of G-code and CAM programming.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create and edit CNC programs using CAM software such as DraftSight and VCarve or manual G-code.
• Optimize toolpaths, feeds, and speeds for efficiency and quality.
• Set up CNC mills and lathes with tooling, fixtures, and workholding.
• Run prototype and production jobs to meet quality and delivery targets.
• Inspect components with micrometers, calipers, and height gauges; record results.
