- maintain clinical competence and responsibility for professional development in all areas of midwifery to ensure continuing professional development, meeting the standards set by the knowledge and skills framework in Band 5 and enable progression to Band 6
- facilitate a conducive environment for all learners, enabling staff to reach their full potential to enable career progression
- develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and attend meetings whilst promoting a positive team spirit
- make efficient and effective use of resources with regular review of personal and service objectives ensuring personal annual appraisal and Professional Midwifery Advocate reviews are performed
- maintain a safe working environment in accordance with risk management and statutory guidelines, reporting and acting on all accidents and incidents whilst maintaining accurate records
- adhere to the NMC Code and meet the Standards of Proficiency for Midwives
Responsibilities and context
- Staff and patients from across East Kent Hospitals are the feature of the organisation’s recruitment drive. This includes working in William Harvey and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother hospitals as part of a large NHS trust serving a population of over one million.
Requirements and criteria
- The ability to converse easily and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for all customer facing roles.
- Most positions require a Disclosure and Barring check and will be exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Posts working regularly or unsupervised with children or vulnerable adults require an enhanced check.
- Applicants for eligible roles requiring Tier 2 sponsorship must meet UK Visas and Immigration eligibility criteria.
- We operate a no-smoking policy on all our sites and grounds.

- We are offering positions which are rotational between the labour ward and the post/antenatal wards, and will support to complete a preceptorship programme in line with the NHSE National Preceptorship Programme for Midwifery.
