Pre-Treatment Radiographer and Deputy Manager

We are seeking applications from a suitably qualified Radiographer that has extensive pre-treatment experience and has been working in a leadership role. Candidates, however must have an in-depth knowledge and a passion for pre-treatment and must have experience in leading a team as the post holder will be Deputy Manager and will need to act up in Radiotherapy Services Manager absence. The post will involve working clinically in CT, providing support to all radiographers on pre-treatment issues, line manager for pre-treatment team as well as managerial responsibilities.

On-going professional development is actively encouraged.

About us

The department consists of 3 Varian Linear Accelerators; including 3 Truebeams with SGRT and 6dof couch, a Gulmay Unit and a Canon Aquilian wide bore CT scanner with radiographer-led palliative virtual simulation using Eclipse. We have an active Clinical Trials department and participate in most major trials.

We have recently expanded our Lung SABR service to include bone and nodes. Further technical developments are planned for introduction in the near future.

We actively encourage role development and support staff in achieving their personal goals and aspirations. All staff have the opportunity to work flexible hours; full-time posts work 37.5 hours over four long days with a day off. All staff participate in on-call for emergency patients at the weekend and bank holiday working.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • BSc in radiotherapy
  • State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Postgraduate study at MSc level or equivalent
Experience
  • Professional specialist knowledge and skill acquired through relevant practical experience post qualification in all aspects of pre-treatment.
  • Wide range of experience in CT scanning and radiotherapy treatment modalities, equipment and techniques resulting in the physical skills required to precisely position a patient for radiotherapy and make decisions to improve patient care.
  • Comprehensive understanding of national issues that will influence practice
  • Pre-Treatment and treatment experience at a senior level
  • Management experience including leading a team
  • Experience with 4DCT
  • Involvement with staff training and service improvement
  • Experience of leading and organising change
  • Experience with RGSC
