A reputable healthcare organization in East Midlands is seeking motivated Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians. This role offers the chance to train for a career as a Registered Pharmacy Technician, while studying for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma. You will be involved in dispensing medicines and providing vital support within the pharmacy team. We are looking to recruit Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPT's) to work within all areas of the Derbyshire Healthcare Pharmacy department. Pharmacy Technicians have an important role within the hospital, managing all aspects of medicines.
This is an excellent opportunity to train for a career as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. You will study for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians whilst you work on an Apprenticeship program, gaining experience in the various areas of pharmacy within the Hospital. Upon completion of the Diploma, you will be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Applicants must possess a minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 4/C or above, these must include English, Maths and a Science subject.
Our Pharmacy department already has a well-established education and training portfolio including undergraduate placements, trainee pharmacists and bespoke in-house training.

To work with and provide advice to healthcare staff and patients in a polite and efficient manner (face to face, over the telephone or by electronic methods),responding to their needs and within the limits of their knowledge, responsibilities and legal and professional requirements.
Accurately provide a ward-based medicine management service following local policy liaising with the ward team, patients, pharmacist, dispensary and any outside providersto ensure medicines are always safely stored.
Ensure all patients medicines undergo medicine reconciliation in a timely manner inline with local and national guidance including liaising with external organisations, patients and carers and updating electronic medical records promptly.
Effectively counsel and provide medication advice to patients and carers to facilitate safe and effective use of medication within scope of practice.
Accurately dispense, assemble and issue patients medication including Controlled Drugs, Compliance Aids and Extemporaneous products.
Undertake regular accuracy checking training sessions and dispensing of medicines including extemporaneous products and Controlled Drugs within our own pharmacy to support the delivery of the service.
Accurately assemble and check stock items.
Accurately pack and distribute pharmacy items including cytotoxic and COSHH items. to wards and teams within agreed timeframes.
Accurately receive ordered items as per Standard Operating Procedure.
Accurately procure pharmaceutical medicines from approved suppliers and report any issues with supply.
To participate in any relevant audit being undertaken by the department to meet CQC requirements.
To take an active role in contributing towards service development and improvement within the healthcare settings.
To develop and demonstrate skills at a level of competency to successfully complete the Pharmacy Technician Advanced Integrated Apprenticeship over 2 years with a commitment to gather evidence to display an appropriate level of competence and consistently meet required deadlines.
Apply the principles of information governance and ensure patient confidentiality.
To take accountability for own work.
