The two-year Post-registration Midwifery Programme (shortened) is a Full-time Master’s level course at Worcester University. It is an innovative, flexible, work-based programme for Registered Adult Nurses who want to become Midwives.

You will receive a Fixed term contract up to midpoint Band 5 (no enhancements) for the duration of the course from The Hospital Trust where you will undertake your Clinical Placement.

This opportunity will be funded by NHS England including salary (up to AfC mid-point band-5), tuition fees £9250 and placement tariff.

On completion of the course, if the successful candidates have met the NMC (2019) Standards for Proficiency for Midwives, they will be eligible to be registered on the midwifery section of the NMC register.

The programme is 50% theory and 50% practice based. This course is for NMC Registered adult nurses who want to become NMC Registered Midwives and earn a level 7 qualification.

Designated, flexible online distance learning theory weeks and specific onsite learning and consolidation periods during the programme to enhance learning and skill development as part of a blended learning programme.

Responsibilities
  • Determine and provide programmes of care and support for women and birthing people which:
  • Identify those who are not achieving as expected and provide support for development including where
  • Are appropriate to the needs, contexts, culture and choices of the women, birthing people, babies and their families
  • Are made in partnership with women and birthing people
  • Are ethical
  • Are based on best evidence and clinical judgement
  • Involve other practitioners when this will improve health outcomes
  • Care for and monitor women and birthing people during the puerperium offering the necessary evidence-based advice and support on baby and self-care
  • Includes care across the continuum
  • Provide seamless care and interventions in partnership with women and birthing people and other care providers during the antenatal period which are appropriate for women’s and birthing persons assessed needs, context and culture
  • Promote their continuing health and well-being
  • Are consistent with the management of risk
  • Draw on the skills of others to optimise health outcomes and resource use
