Job description

Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician (Training post - Annex 21)

This post is a fixed-term training contract of 24 months. The training post provides the opportunity to gain the required experience and qualification(s) needed to register as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Salary: Initially Annex 21 Band 4 - 70%, progressing to 75% after 12 months.

Pharmacy technicians develop a high level of expertise in relation to medicines and health, working as part of healthcare teams in hospitals, manufacturing units, community pharmacies, and GP practices. They focus on the management and use of medicines to ensure all types of people receive the best outcomes from their medicines. They also lead teams delivering medicines services.

During the two-year training, you will be expected to gain experience reflecting the evolving roles of the Pharmacy Technician.

Successful completion of the program enables you to apply to the General Pharmaceutical Council for registration as a pharmacy technician and to apply for related jobs.

This post is fixed-term for 2 years to meet the needs of the service.

The role of the Pharmacy Technician is varied and continuously evolving, offering new roles. We are providing this opportunity to explore this innovative role through a rotational training program. You will gain experience in hospital settings, including dispensing for in-patients and out-patients, purchasing, distribution, and ward-based work.
