Job description

We are a busy outpatient department with many different multi-disciplinary clinics running. We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking person who relishes providing person-centred support and care to our patients. The successful candidate will support the departmental team in a busy working environment. We facilitate patients' planned elective surgery, working towards safe surgery and demonstrating compassion throughout their journey within the Pre-Operative department at Wrightington Hospital.

This is a permanent post.

Candidates will be required to produce original certificates of qualifications at interview and during compliance checks.

Minimum requirements:

  • Must have an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Adhering to NICE Elective guidelines and trust policies within the Elective Surgical Pre-Op pathway.
  2. Taking patients' baseline observations.
  3. Performing ECGs, venipuncture, Vitalograph tests, and digitally recording results.
  4. Assisting colleagues from all disciplines with good communication skills and team ethos. Acting as an advocate for patients and providing reassurance.
  5. Participating in maintaining department audits.
  6. Keeping up to date with trust mandatory training.
  7. Ordering stock when needed and maintaining professionalism and willingness to develop with new initiatives in the department.

You will need excellent communication and documentation skills on the trust's digital platform. Respect, dignity, and confidentiality must be maintained at all times with patients and staff.
