Job summary

Circle Health Group's Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield is seeking a Healthcare Assistant for Pre Operative Assessment. This part-time role covers 30 hours per week, with a flexible shift pattern including evenings and weekends.

You will support patients with hygiene, nutrition and daily living, perform routine observations and assist clinical teams, contributing to a safe, compassionate patient journey.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care or health support role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional intake; document intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Carry out and record routine observations (BP, pulse, resp rate, temperature, SpO2, glucose).
• Support basic clinical procedures and wound care setup; catheter care and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, trolleys, beds and equipment for patient use.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support patient care.
