Job summary

Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a part-time Pre-Operative Assessment Practitioner (28 hours per week) to deliver patient assessments, care planning and specialist nursing procedures within the pre-operative clinic. You will work autonomously, support clinical pathways and contribute to the ongoing development of SOPs and pathways.

The role involves assessing patients, providing expert advice, and collaborating with the MDT to ensure high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria includes a Clinical Examination and Diagnostic course; developing applicants may undertake a 3-4 month Clinical Examination course.
• Assess patients, plan and implement care with specialist advice and maintain appropriate records.
• Carry out specialist nursing procedures, including clinical examination and ECG recording/interpretation.
• Act as a resource person to the MDT, patients and relatives.
• Operate at experienced practitioner level and make effective decisions.
• Facilitate education of registered and non registered staff.
• Assist in department management and staff development.
• Develop clinical protocols and SOPs.
• Contribute to a motivated workforce and drive performance development.
• Be receptive to change and encourage new ideas.
• Demonstrate people management, delegation, negotiation and assertiveness.

We Are Currently Recruiting For a Pre-Op Assessment Practitioner

Role Description

The role of pre operative assessment practitioner is to be accountable for their own practice including the assessment and referral of patients, working autonomously within the pre-operative assessment clinic. Implementing care, providing specialist advice and clinical practice and drawing up clinical management plans whilst mindful of pathways, guidelines and targets.

Supporting and contributing to development of clinical pathways, service improvement and re design initiatives within the area.

An essential criteria of this role is a Clinical Examination and Diagnostic course; however, we are also keen to receive applications from practitioners who are looking to develop in to this role and who are willing to undertake a 3-4 month Clinical Examination course (Annex 21 provisions would apply to those in a developing role).

Assess patients, plan and implement care providing specialist advice and maintaining appropriate records. Carry out specialist nursing procedures, i.e. clinical examination, recording and interpreting ECG's. Act as a resource person to others, providing advice and support to the MDT, patients and relatives.

Function at experienced practitioner level, able to make effective decisions. Facilitate the education of registered and non registered staff.

Assist in the management of the department to ensure excellence in patient care and to have responsibility for staff and service development.

Develop the clinical protocols and SOPs.

Contribute to an effective, motivated and competent workforce and ensure that high quality standards are maintained and developed. Contribute to the development of performance review in accordance with Trust policy. Be receptive to change with the Department and encourage new ideas and developments.

Demonstrate people management skills, delegation, negotiation and assertiveness as appropriate.
