Job Description:

About Wessex Internet

We are a fast-growing, innovative Internet provider, delivering full-fibre broadband across rural areas in the Southwest, including Dorset, Somerset, New Forest, and now expanding our network into Wiltshire. Dedicated to delivering lightning-fast broadband to thousands of countryside homes and businesses, we are different to most Alt Nets in that we design, build, and operate our own network to ensure every connection meets our high standards.

Late last year, we celebrated an exciting milestone in connecting our 10,000th customer to our full-fibre service. This achievement highlights our commitment to exceptional customer service and is reflected in our customer reviews & trust pilot scores.

We’re a growing business built on teamwork, where each contribution is valued and has a part to play in our successes. With a focus on personal and professional growth, we offer endless opportunities to make an impact. As we continue to grow, we are seeking passionate individuals to join our passionate team.

The Role

Reporting to one of our Pre-Enablement Team Leaders we are looking for an operative to join our Pre enablement Team. This role would suit someone who has 2 years+ experience installing network in Openreach PIA and own infrastructure within the highways / street works environment and is therefore well versed in underground and overhead working. The objective of this role is to deliver the connection from the boundary to the termination point on the property.

In addition, there will be a need to work with Project and Network planning, along with surveying, Pre-Enablement Civils Team, and overhead installation teams to see consistent progression to completion of works with minimal job failures.

You will also need to show good leadership skills, displaying safe procedures and safe working practices while solving problems and carrying out all tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand technical drawing and specification sheets to install fibre optic cable
  • Collection of data and production of as-built information as required
  • Installation and supervision of installing underground fibre within PIA and WI own infrastructure to the required standards.
  • Site survey reports (Overhead, underground and the proposal of alternative routes) including test rod and roping as required.
  • Completing detailed surveys of jobs that require additional resource or equipment.
  • The negotiation with customers on the best route through their property to their desired termination point.
  • Assisting Service Delivery teams across the company where necessary to support customer needs.
  • Liaising with both colleagues and customers; keeping in regular contact with office staff & team leaders.
  • Appropriate use of safety equipment and procedures, ensuring H&S/Highways guidelines for safe roadside / pathway working are always followed and implemented and in depth understanding and appreciation of the Street works considerations
  • Working in accordance with Health and Safety requirements for WI Employees and Customers

Requirements

Clear and precise communication skills across a variety of deliveries
Work autonomously and self-motivate in an organised manner
Ability to work on own initiative with experience of following health and safety guidelines.
Relevant PIA accreditations (SA001, SA002, S7, S8) & NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding & IPAF.
Shortlisted applicants will be offered a trial day with the Pre enablement Team instead of a formal type of interview. At Wessex we value the importance of candidates fully understanding what our field-based roles involve and getting a little taster. You will be paid for your trial day
Hold a full UK driving license.
