Job summary

SYSTRA in Birmingham is seeking a Commercial Manager (Pre-Contract) to support work-winning activities across a diverse portfolio of opportunities in rail, highways and environmental sectors.

You will review and negotiate pre-contract documents, support tender reviews, assess risk, shape commercial strategy and liaise with legal teams to drive successful contract outcomes. Hybrid working available with a strong emphasis on governance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a commercial, contracts or procurement role.
• Strong understanding of standard forms of contract, NEC in particular.
• Experience supporting bids, tenders and other pre-contract activity.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Commitment to governance, quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Review, assess and negotiate pre-contract documentation (NDAs, MoUs, Teaming Agreements, Design Services Agreements, JV agreements).
• Support tender and bid documentation preparation and commercial review.
• Carry out risk assessments and propose practical solutions.
• Negotiate contract terms with clients, supply chain partners and JV stakeholders.
• Help define and implement bid commercial strategies with bid teams and senior colleagues.
• Provide input into pricing strategy and wider work-winning activity.
• Liaise with internal legal teams for contract reviews and governance.
