About the role

Balfour Beatty Living Places (BBLP) is seeking a Commercial Manager to join our dynamic Work Winning team in Basingstoke . This is a pivotal role focused on developing and pricing compelling bid solutions that secure future projects while maintaining tender margins.

What you'll be doing

As a key member of our pre-contract team, you'll:

• Lead the pricing and commercial strategy for bids, ensuring innovation and value engineering are at the heart of every proposal.
• Collaborate across disciplines-estimating, design, procurement, and operations-to craft winning solutions.
• Engage directly with transformational clients to understand their needs and build strong relationships.
• Present proposals in a smart, clear, and compelling way to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage commercial risks and ensure bids align with Balfour Beatty's governance processes.
• Drive continuous improvement by integrating feedback from live contracts and industry developments.
• Develop pricing strategies using both top-down and bottom-up approaches.
• Ensure proposals meet client requirements and outperform competitors.
• Coordinate with legal, pensions, property, insurance, and HR teams for contract reviews.
• Manage tender risk and opportunity registers.
• Support successful tender handovers and ongoing delivery team collaboration.
