Job description

THE TEAM

At JSM Group, our success begins long before the first shovel hits the ground. Our Pre-Construction Team plays a critical role in shaping high-profile power and civils projects across the UK. As leaders in early-stage project development, we’re proud to deliver innovative infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of our clients and communities.

We’re now looking for a Project Manager to help take projects from concept to construction-ready, collaborating with internal teams, authorities, and clients to deliver fully scoped, compliant, and strategically planned solutions.

SCOPE OF ROLE

As a Project Manager, you’ll work closely with the Pre-Construction Civils Director, taking the lead on feasibility studies, infrastructure planning, technical documentation, and stakeholder coordination. You will ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and internal policies while delivering seamless handovers to the delivery teams. This is a hybrid working role, based out of Potters Bar, with some travel required to sites and client meetings.

HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED

  1. Conducting feasibility studies and site surveys to assess viability, cost, and logistics
  2. Designing and planning route maps and infrastructure layouts for power projects
  3. Preparing tender documentation, including route surveys, paving schedules, and MS Project programmes
  4. Creating job packs, wayleave documentation, and cable pack designs, including Straight Line Diagrams and PIADs
  5. Identifying and resolving Special Engineering Difficulties (SEDs) with authorities and utility providers
  6. Ensuring compliance with NRSWA, HSG47, CDM regulations, and internal SQE policies
  7. Promoting a safety-first culture, delivering briefings, toolbox talks, and championing near-miss reporting
  8. Building strong relationships with clients, Highways Authorities, utilities, and internal teams
  9. Representing the JSM brand positively and promoting inclusivity across all external and internal engagements

WHAT IT TAKES

  1. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a project management role within the civils, power, or utilities sector
  2. Strong knowledge of Streetworks permitting, NRSWA, HSG47, and CDM regulations
  3. Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  4. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with stakeholder engagement experience
  5. A confident leader with strong negotiation and presentation skills
  6. Valid CSCS card and site safety training (CITB/SSSTS or equivalent)
  7. Full UK Driving Licence (travel required)

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

We truly value your work, time, and skills! In return, we will offer you a competitive salary and some additional benefits to support your professional growth, including:

  • Participation in mentoring and coaching programmes
  • 28 days of holiday (excluding bank holidays)
  • 2 paid volunteering days a year
  • Hybrid working pattern
  • Continuous training and development, in both technical and business skills
