Job Description:
Pre-Construction Manager – M&E Division (Fire Safety Focus)
Shape Safer Spaces with Harmony Fire
At Harmony Fire, we believe the more we grow, the more impact we can make — for our clients, our people, and the communities we serve. Ranked among the top 25 best service companies to work for in the UK and the 72nd fastest-growing business in Europe, we are building something different.
In our M&E Division, we are redefining how mechanical and electrical systems can deliver real-world safety, performance, and peace of mind. We’re now looking for an exceptional Pre-Construction Manager with proven experience in designing and interpreting M&E systems, ideally with a strong focus on fire safety and life protection.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and shape project proposals, pitching technical and commercial strategies to secure M&E contracts
- Develop and refine robust budgets and estimates for system upgrades, additional works, and contract variations
- Drive early-stage design, programming, and specification strategies for M&E systems — with a strong emphasis on fire and life safety compliance
- Design, read, and interpret complex M&E drawings and schematics, ensuring clarity and compliance across all project phases
- Manage the pre-construction lifecycle, from scoping and risk mitigation to client-facing communications and technical advisory
- Ensure designs meet all regulatory requirements and performance expectations, especially in fire detection, suppression, and protection systems
- Track client revenue forecasts and ensure projects meet or exceed gross profit targets
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure technical integrity and commercial success
What You Bring
- Proven experience in Design & Build M&E projects, ideally in high-stakes environments (e.g. residential, commercial, care facilities)
- Expert-level ability to design, interpret, and advise on M&E drawings and technical specifications
- Deep knowledge of fire and life safety systems, including alarms, sprinklers, emergency lighting, and passive fire protection
- Strong grasp of relevant regulations, British Standards, and compliance frameworks
- Demonstrable commercial acumen — with experience producing budgets, securing contracts, and negotiating with subcontractors
- Skilled in identifying and mitigating technical and commercial risk during pre-construction
- Track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring emerging talent
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership capabilities
Who You Are
- Technically fluent — able to lead on design conversations with clients, contractors, and stakeholders
- Strategically minded — balancing innovation, safety, and commercial goals
- Accountable and reliable — someone who takes ownership and delivers results
- Positive and collaborative — contributing to a culture of support, growth, and integrity
Why Harmony Fire – M&E Division
- Collaborative, modern workspaces with state-of-the-art tools and systems
- A Bespoke Personal Development Plan for every team member
- Work alongside industry experts who share knowledge, challenge assumptions, and support career growth
- Lunch, snacks, and “Take Away Fridays” provided
- Bonus scheme — earn up to 50% of your annual salary
- Family-first benefits: enhanced maternity/paternity policies, cycle-to-work scheme
- Regular team socials, European break rewards, and two major company events each year
